Moroccan Soldiers Killed in Drug Bust Collision Near Algerian Border

Two Moroccan soldiers lost their lives on March 30 in the Tagounite region, near the Algerian border, following an accident that occurred during an anti-drug operation, the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) confirmed.
According to the statement published by the FAR on their Facebook account, the incident occurred when a military patrol was pursuing an all-terrain vehicle transporting cannabis. The official statement indicates that the patrol was "involved in a serious accident" resulting from a "deliberate collision" initiated by the pursued vehicle.
The direct consequences of this accident are the deaths of soldiers Faiçal Moujahid and Mohamed Hasnaoui. The statement specifies that they died from their injuries during their evacuation to a hospital. A third soldier involved is in critical condition and is currently receiving medical care.
The funerals of the two deceased soldiers took place in their places of origin, in the presence of official representatives, the military institution specifies, indicating that it has conveyed its condolences to the families of the deceased.
