Moroccan Singer Meryem Aboulouafa Faces Deportation from France, Jeopardizing Album Release and Concerts

Moroccan singer and songwriter Meryem Aboulouafa, who has been residing in France for several years, has been denied the renewal of her residence permit and has been ordered to leave French territory within a period of thirty days.
The decision comes as the Moroccan singer is preparing the release of her second album scheduled for September 26th, as well as concerts in Marseille and Paris. In a statement to the French newspaper Libération, Meryem Aboulouafa expressed her indignation at this sudden decision which, she says, "has placed her personal life and artistic career in the unknown and was not expected."
"I have a house, a car and a stable life in France, a career that I have built over the years and a set of commitments, and suddenly I am asked to leave everything and leave within a month only, where will I start?" rages the 36-year-old singer, who adds that she has appealed her deportation order.
Meryem Aboulouafa is an interior designer, musician, singer-songwriter and Moroccan singer. She sings in Arabic, English and French. She studied music at the conservatory and then at the School of Fine Arts in Casablanca. In 2013, she launched an interior design agency called Introspectus. The young woman continues to compose songs and perform at many festivals, including "MadJazz" in Marrakech and "Jazzablanca".
