Moroccan Singer Faces Algerian Backlash Over Flag Controversy at Paris Concert

Moroccan singer Zina Daoudia is under a boycott call because of her refusal to display the Algerian flag during a dinner show in Paris last weekend.
Algerian internet users are unhappy with Zina Daoudia and have launched a boycott campaign against her. The source of this anger is the Moroccan singer’s refusal to wear the Algerian flag. While she was giving her concert in Épinay-sur-Seine, an Algerian woman asked Zina Daoudia to wear the Algerian flag. But the Algerian fan was met with the Moroccan singer’s refusal. A gesture that Algerian activists do not appreciate at all. They did not hesitate to hurl insults at the one who is recognized as one of the greatest stars of Moroccan chaâbi.
The Moroccan public, on the other hand, welcomed Daoudia’s position and her behavior during the concert. For some Moroccan fans, Zina Daoudia reacted with intelligence and patriotism in the face of the woman who tried to embarrass her with the Algerian flag. Others believe that such actions put Moroccan artists in a delicate situation, as many of them enjoy great popularity among the Maghreb community living abroad.
