Moroccan Radio Host in Spain Arrested for Inciting Hate Against Teacher in Morocco

An individual was arrested in Esplugues de Llobregat, in the province of Barcelona, for incitement to hatred against a philosophy teacher residing and working in Morocco, the Spanish police announced.
In a statement, the Spanish police say that the accused collaborates with a local radio station, FM and on the internet, in the city of Cornellà de Llobregat, which is part of a chain that broadcasts programs in Moroccan dialect (Darija) very popular with Moroccans living in Catalonia.
The man is accused of the crime of incitement to hatred, violence and discrimination, and the crime against moral integrity, the same source adds, stating that the investigation began following a complaint published on the official police account, "@policia". The complaint concerns the dissemination of a video on the station’s social networks, in which serious accusations were made against a philosophy professor residing and working in Morocco.
"The defendant criticized the attitude of the teacher who made an appearance on social networks during which she was smoking and drinking a glass of wine, considering that she lacked respect for the Prophet," the same source notes, stressing that the accused, during his intervention in a program broadcast on this station, uttered insults and humiliating remarks against the teacher. Worse, he insinuated that "if he lived in other more radical countries, he could cut off her head for her actions".
The investigation revealed that "the victim is known for her progressive political views and her criticism of the most radical Muslim religion," the statement adds. The accused will be prosecuted at large. In accordance with the immigration law, expulsion proceedings have been opened against him, as he is not in a regular situation in Spain.
