Moroccan Officials Suspended: Corruption Scandal Rocks Midelt Province

The provincial authorities of Midelt have ordered the temporary suspension of two caïds (local administrators). This administrative decision was made due to acts qualified as "serious professional misconduct".
This precautionary measure follows data collected in field reports. The latter have highlighted dysfunctions in the management of several files, which have been considered as a violation of the duties of public service as well as the rules of administrative discipline and ethics related to the function of representative of the authority.
The suspension of the two civil servants is effective pending the results of investigations conducted by the competent authorities. These investigations aim to determine the exact nature and extent of the shortcomings attributed to them.
According to the conclusions of these administrative investigations, several disciplinary decisions are possible. Depending on the degree of seriousness of the faults that will be established, the sanctions may range from a warning to permanent dismissal from office, including a temporary suspension that may be followed by a reintegration after a training period.
