Moroccan Mother Faces Extradition from France Over False Documents

A 50-year-old Moroccan mother who denounces the violence she and her two daughters allegedly suffered from the father of the family is threatened with extradition. In 2018, she had fled her country of origin by boat to reach France.
The husband had filed a complaint against Zakia for child abduction. But he was dismissed by the courts on the grounds that the testimonies of the two teenagers about the alleged violence by their mother were sufficient. The fifty-year-old woman managed to get out of trouble but will have to face another crucial problem. She could be extradited to Morocco for using a false exit document, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.
Her husband filed a second complaint against the mother of the family on this matter. Already, the indictment chamber of the Nîmes Court of Appeal has issued a favorable opinion. On the basis of a report from the Minister of Justice, the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, will have to issue a decree in the coming weeks ruling on a possible extradition of Zakia. The fifty-year-old woman faces two to five years in prison in Morocco with the obligation to leave her daughters in France.
