Moroccan Minors Arrested in France for Alleged Break-In and Home Invasion

The police arrested, on Saturday, January 16, three Moroccan minors aged 12, 13 and 14. Two of them are accused of having broken a window of a house and the third of home invasion.

The police carried out two separate operations after being alerted twice on Saturday, January 16 evening, reports Sud Ouest. A private individual was the first to alert the law enforcement. He had himself managed to chase away two people who had just broken a window of his house, around 6:45 p.m. Arriving on the scene, the police surprised two minors aged 12 and 13 who were likely to have committed the act.

During their placement in police custody, these two minors who claim to be from Morocco denied the facts. On the recommendation of the prosecutor, they were taken to a juvenile detention center in Anglet.

The second person who alerted the police is an agent of a surveillance company. The reinforcements of the BAC of Bayonne first noted the break-in and the deterioration of the security cameras of the protected home, before arresting a 14-year-old Moroccan minor. He was in turn placed in police custody. He admitted the break-in but explained that he did not want to steal anything, "just to sleep".

Only the offense of home invasion was retained. The representative of the public prosecutor’s office also referred this minor to a specialized reception center, with a reminder of the law.
