Moroccan Migrant’s Perilous Journey Across Europe Ends in French Court

A Moroccan dreaming of a better life in Europe goes through a series of misadventures that leads him to the Perpignan court. He is in an irregular situation.
The quest for a better life drives a Moroccan, holder of a BAC+3, to reach Europe by air. First destination: Turkey. From Turkey, he goes to Greece. This is the beginning of a very long journey. On foot and hitchhiking. After crossing Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia, he reaches Slovenia. He files an asylum application.
What next? He leaves Slovenia for Italy. He goes to Spain for a job opportunity. Having contacts in France, he sometimes reaches the Pyrenees. One day, the border police (PAF) checks him. Graduated and with no criminal record, the Moroccan will be assigned to Perpignan rather than placed in a detention center pending his readmission to Slovenia, reports L’Indépendant.
He will later be sought after for failing to report. In the meantime, he has left for Spain again. New check. The mobile gendarmes at the Banyuls-sur-Mer station check him and then send him to administrative detention. The liberty and custody judge will have to extend this measure. According to his lawyer, Poloni, the reason for the check was not specified on the report. A report that was not signed. The PAF agents who checked his client did not countersign it either.
A glimmer of hope appears on the horizon for the Moroccan. He will be able to benefit from a release, return to Spain while waiting for his asylum application (in Slovenia) to be admissible.
