Moroccan Man on Trial for Stabbing ’Sorcerer’ in France, Blames Him for Royal Death

A Moroccan residing in France is facing French justice for acts of knife attack. He had stabbed a "sorcerer" four times, accusing him of the death of his son and the King of Morocco. The verdict will be handed down on June 8.
The events took place in 2019. A Moroccan residing in France for 40 years stabs a man four times in his car in Stiring-Wendel. Alerted, the police arrived on the scene. On their arrival, the victim was at the wheel of his car with several deep wounds to the abdomen. The police found 500 € in his car. The alleged perpetrator was a few meters from the vehicle. The victim returned home after 50 days in hospital and 15 days in a coma. According to the alleged perpetrator’s explanations, the victim is "a terrorist and a sorcerer" that he wanted to stop.
The two men had lived in the same home 40 years ago. The victim is "a kind of imam who prays at people’s homes," explains the president of the court, Aurélie Fine. At the bar, the defendant, a 67-year-old man, explains that he has been paying him the sum of 300 € each month for 20 years so that he can protect his loved ones, reports Le Républicain Lorrain. A mission he failed to accomplish: the sexagenarian lost his son who committed suicide a few years ago. He blames the victim for not having protected his son. According to him, the "sorcerer" is also responsible for the death of the former King of Morocco, Hassan II, who died in 1999 and many other people.
The defendant does not suffer from any behavioral disorder. According to the psychiatric assessment, he is an introverted and impressionable man, having undergone total uprooting upon his arrival in France. There is "doubt about the will to give death, but not about the intention to strike blows," the Public Prosecutor estimates, who is demanding three years in prison, two of which are suspended. The verdict is expected on June 8.
