Moroccan Man Sentenced in Absentia for Assaulting Police Officers in Caen

Absent from the Caen court, a Moroccan homeless man in an irregular situation was sentenced to six months in prison for insulting and hitting two police officers in July 2022. Facing expulsion from French territory, he is actively being sought.
In addition to the prison sentence, Amine Benamor will have to compensate the injured police officer for 600 euros and the other for 300 euros, reports Tendance ouest. He will also have to pay 800 euros in lawyer’s fees. In contrast to the defendant, the victims were represented by their counsel at the Thursday, April 6 hearing. During his hearing on July 24, 2022, Amine had flatly rejected all the accusations.
The facts date back to July 22, 2022. Around 11:10 p.m., Amine, intoxicated, enters a bar in Caen and asks the manager to serve him a drink. The latter refuses. The 21-year-old man gets angry. He punches and kicks him. Called, the police arrive on the scene. They arrest Amine. In the process, he resists. He strikes one of the police officers in the face and insults them by spitting on them. Facts that have been proven true. Absent from the Thursday hearing, he will be convicted in absentia.
