A Moroccan man saves a child from drowning in Italy and ends up in the emergency room
A 9-year-old boy narrowly escaped drowning in Como, Italy, thanks to the immediate intervention of a 45-year-old man of Moroccan origin. The rescuer himself ended up in the emergency room after being injured during the intervention.
The incident occurred on Thursday, shortly after 1 p.m., in front of the Tempio Voltiano. The boy, from San Fermo della Battaglia, was in the water with several people when he suddenly disappeared beneath the surface.

The man of Moroccan origin noticed what was happening and did not hesitate to intervene. He managed to retrieve the child when he was already submerged, reports La Provincia di Como.
The boy eventually regained consciousness and was able to be returned to his mother.
The rescuer is injured during the intervention
It was ultimately the man who came to his rescue who had to be taken to hospital. He injured an ankle during the rescue and was transported to the emergency room at Sant’Anna Hospital. His condition was not considered serious.
The police, coast guard, firefighters and emergency medical services responded at the scene.
