Moroccan Man Jailed for Theft and Threats Against Police in Ille-et-Vilaine

The Saint-Malo court imposed a prison sentence on a Moroccan illegally residing in France for threatening to kill two gendarmes after stealing jewelry. His accomplice, also of Moroccan nationality, did not escape conviction either.
The events took place on Saturday, May 24, 2025. Two Moroccans entered several houses in Combourg to steal jewelry and furniture. A resident sees them enter his garden and calls the gendarmes. Upon their arrival at the scene, law enforcement manages to apprehend one of them. The second suspect fled but was arrested two hours later behind a bush, reports Actu.fr.
One of them was in a state of intoxication and under the influence of drugs during his arrest and hurled insults and death threats at the gendarmes. "I know where you live. I’m going to take care of you. I’m going to burn your house with you and your wife in it. I have three bullets," he said. The two men were tried in an immediate appearance for theft and death threats against two gendarmes. At the stand, the suspect who threatened the gendarmes apologizes profusely. "I had drunk too much. Alcohol makes me crazy. I ask for their forgiveness," he maintains before the Saint-Malo court.
These two Moroccans have already been convicted and have even received an OQTF (Obligation to Leave French Territory). "Morocco hasn’t recognized him and France doesn’t want him," pleaded one of the defense lawyers who deplores an absurd situation. She invited the court to reflect on the relevance of a conviction for this young man who finds himself "in a situation of wandering." She added: "Everything is falling apart for him since the OQTF, because he has no plans."
The court sentences him to 9 months in prison with immediate custody. Following the plea of his defense, the president invited the defendant to start administrative and legal procedures to regularize his situation. His accomplice is sentenced to 12 months of suspended prison with probation.
