Moroccan Grocer Honored for Community Service During Pandemic Lockdowns

Ahmed Akbabou, 45, manager of the grocery store in Boynes, in the Pithiverais, received, last Friday, January 15, the medal of honorary citizen for his services during the lockdown periods.
"You have set an example of boldness in adopting new business methods. You are recognized by the entire municipality as one of its most useful and deserving citizens," Thierry Barjonet, mayor of Boynes, addressed Ahmed.
Manager of the Boynes grocery store, the Moroccan was of great help to the residents, especially the elderly who could not move around in these difficult times, reports La République de Centre. Taking orders by phone and SMS, free home deliveries, installation of gas bottles... He shone through his exemplary nature.
Assisted by Mbark, his 22-year-old son, the recipient has been running the small shop on the Place de la République for three years. He previously managed an identical store in Saclay in the Essonne. The grocer sells fruits, vegetables, drinks, meat, bread, etc. His store is open 7 days a week, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (outside the lockdown period). The Boynots are also delighted with this availability.
During the award ceremony, his thoughts went to his father. He had received a medal of honor for years spent at the Kléber-Colombes tire factory during his lifetime.
