Moroccan Fountain in Aix-les-Bains Gets Free Restoration by Local Craftsmen

The Moroccan fountain in Aix-les-Bains is getting a makeover. Built in 2005 in the green park, in memory of Morocco’s independence agreements negotiated in the city in 1956, it will be entirely rehabilitated by Moroccan workers.
Designed with wood and zelliges, this fountain requires renovation work. The municipality has called upon Moroccan professionals residing in the city to carry out this project free of charge, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.
The Aix authorities have signed an agreement to this effect with the Franco-Moroccan cultural association of Aix-les-Bains, chaired by Mohamed Gaidi. The completion of the work is scheduled for next year.
"The fountain will have regained all its splendor in 2026, the anniversary date of the independence agreements, which will certainly be celebrated in our city," said the city’s mayor.
This Moroccan fountain is the property of the city of Aix-les-Bains. It has been registered as part of Aix’s heritage as a historical monument since April 23, 2008.
