Moroccan Expats Stranded at French Port as Ferry Services to Morocco Remain Suspended

While Morocco had decided to reopen its borders to Moroccans, Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) and foreign residents starting July 15, many find themselves stranded at the port of Sète for a few days. And for good reason, no ferries.
Dozens of Moroccans and foreign residents in Morocco have not found ferries to reach Tangier and Nador, reports Libération. July 15, July 16, July 17... Still no ferries. They are struggling with this situation that persists. Brahim, 35, has been transporting parcels between Morocco and France twice a month for 10 years. With the current situation, he is animated by despair. The days go by without him having the possibility to return to Agadir where he is domiciled.
The worst part is that he and his colleagues no longer have a job and almost no more money. They have all parked their vans loaded to the brim at the entrance to the parking lot, except for one who has already sold his. At night, some workers or vacationers turn their vehicle into a dormitory. They cannot have access to toilets or showers, let alone reception.
Yet the tickets they bought at the last minute on the internet cost them very dear. Ayoub Benali left Paris to spend the summer vacation in Rabat as usual. The one-way ticket with his car cost him 700 euros, twice as much as last year. Those whose vehicle is larger or who have booked a cabin (they are many) spend 1,000 euros.
