Moroccan Expats Face Eviction from Tangier Apartment in Legal Dispute

Moroccans Living Abroad (MRE) are under threat of eviction from their apartment in Tangier. It’s the former tenant who has won the case and could regain possession of the property.
Touria and her husband Mohamed Boutaa, both members of the community residing in France, were surprised by an eviction decision from their apartment located in the Mediterranean Residence, on Youssef Ibn Tachfin Avenue. Based on a judgment obtained by a former tenant, the authorities attempted to evict them from their home. The two MREs confide that they had been informed of the attempt to execute a decision in favor of a "former tenant" in order to reinstate him in the housing, after having succeeded in evicting him in 2019, explains the MRE to Tanja24.
Touria explains that the tenant was occupying the housing illegally from the start, because her brother took advantage of her absence to rent him the apartment based on "falsified documents". After a long battle, her husband and she had managed to get him out definitively.
While she thought the incident was closed, the Boutaa family discovers years later that the tenant had resorted to justice and had managed to obtain a judgment authorizing him to return to the housing. According to the judgment, he had, during all this period, paid the rents, and "the apartment is closed and empty", and he should be able to enjoy it on the basis of a "supposed rental contract".
Stunned, the Boutaa family asks the judicial and administrative authorities to investigate the matter. They say they are ready to assume their responsibilities and grant the adversary all his rights if he turns out to be in the right. In return, they ask for their own protection and that of their property against any aggression or attempt at exploitation related to their residence abroad and their ignorance of the "traps of the law".
