The French National Order of Merit has just been awarded to Abdallah Toughza, a Moroccan gardener at the Residence of the French Embassy since 1987.
This title was awarded to him last Friday by the French Ambassador to Morocco, Jean-François Girault, for his "perfection in the care and cultivation of the garden of the Embassy Residence".
"The garden of the Residence has become under his hand one of the most beautiful private gardens," the embassy said in a message posted on Facebook.
Established in 1963 by General De Gaulle, this order rewards distinguished military or civilian merits rendered to the French nation.
