Moroccan Dirham Strengthens Against Euro, Weakens vs Dollar in Latest Exchange Rates

The Moroccan dirham appreciated between September 19 and 25, by 0.20% against the euro and depreciated by 0.24% against the dollar.
During this period, according to Bank Al-Maghrib (BAM), no auction operation was carried out on the foreign exchange market.
As for interventions in the money market, BAM injected, during this period, an amount of 81.6 billion dirhams in the form of 7-day advances on call for tenders.
Taking into account an amount of 2.3 billion dirhams granted under the MSME financing support program, the total amount of interventions amounts to 83.9 billion dirhams, according to the MAP.
The interbank rate stood at 2.25% and the trading volume at 2.9 billion dirhams, according to the newspaper citing banking sources.
On the stock market, the MASI depreciated by 0.8%, bringing its performance since the beginning of the year to 0.9%, noting that the weekly change in the benchmark index mainly reflects decreases in the sectoral indices of "real estate" by 7.2% and "banks" by 1.2%.
On the other hand, the index of the "building and construction materials" sector appreciated by 0.9%.
Moreover, the MAP reports that the overall trading volume amounted to 447.5 million dirhams (MDH) after 327.7 MDH the previous week.
On the central equity market, the average daily trading amount stood at 88.7 MDH against 41 MDH the previous week.
