All Moroccans have their stone to contribute to the development process of their country. It is in this context that Chakib Benmoussa, the president of the special commission on the development model (CSMD), accompanied by the CEO of the OCP group, Mostafa Terrab, held, Thursday in Paris, a meeting of exchanges and sharing with Moroccans residing in France.

The France stage is the first of a long series, as the idea is to give a voice to Moroccans around the world. Before meeting Moroccans residing abroad (MREs), the CSMD met with various social and political representations at the national level.

The Paris meeting was attended by several Moroccan personalities working in various sectors in France. In a truthful discussion, the MREs shared their vision of development. And the most inspiring models, according to them, are those of Singapore and India. They then called on the commission to involve civil society, given its significant contribution, reports lematin.ma.

Moroccans living in France also stressed the need to strengthen the industrial and digital sectors in order to make them real showcases of Morocco. They also suggested the development of the air sector and the creation of jobs to curb the brain drain abroad. For them, it is important to work for the return of Moroccan skills scattered around the world. The issue of the voting rights of MREs was also raised.

As for the youth, the Moroccans of the French diaspora propose that it be supervised, accompanied and trained in the realities of the current world. They especially expressed the need for this youth to benefit from entrepreneurship support programs, already from middle school and high school, and this in all regions.

In turn, Chakib Benmoussa stressed that the MREs, who represent 15% of the population, have a crucial role to play in the development process. "This diaspora, a bridge between the country of origin and the host country, certainly contributes to the emergence of Morocco, but has specific demands; hence the interest in listening to it, collecting its vision and soliciting its point of view," he said.

For his part, the CEO of the OCP group, Mostafa Terrab, affirmed that "Moroccans of the world and Moroccans of Morocco must learn to know each other", and overcome "this clash of cultures" that he called to demystify. "We are all Moroccans. And, at the commission level, the dimension of the diaspora is important, because Moroccans abroad are real creators of wealth," he said, to conclude this meeting.
