Moroccan Consulate Honors Elderly Immigrants in Paris with Special Event

The Consulate General of Morocco in Paris has decided to honor elderly people of Moroccan origin residing in the French capital. This through the organization of the first day of tribute to Moroccan elderly people.

The event was organized by the Consulate of the Kingdom at the Maison du Maroc Foundation in collaboration with several associations. In a relaxed atmosphere, this day allowed these elderly people, who have diverse profiles and backgrounds, to list the difficulties they face both in France and in Morocco, a statement from the consulate said.

This first day of Moroccan elderly people in Paris saw the participation of sociologists, doctors, anthropologists and a member of parliament. In turn, they reported on the efforts made in terms of support and assistance policies for the elderly, but also on the difficulties, before making proposals to improve the conditions of this vulnerable category of Moroccans abroad.

Mustapha El Bouazzaoui, the Consul General of Morocco in Paris, was pleased with this initiative which allowed him, through the answers to the questions asked, to report on the efforts made by Morocco for the benefit of Moroccans abroad. He stressed that the Consulate intends to make the best reception and service conditions available to Moroccans, and that the file concerning the elderly will be treated with all the necessary care. He wished that May 22 of each year be retained as a commemorative day dedicated to Moroccan elderly people in Paris.

For this first day, trophies were awarded to members of associations who worked alongside the Consulate General of Morocco in Paris, to provide aid and assistance to Moroccan students and people in difficult situations during the Covid-19 crisis.
