Moroccan Community Urges Foreign Minister to Help Repatriate Cancer Victim’s Body from Belgium

The mother of a young Moroccan, who died in Brussels, has launched an appeal for help in order to repatriate her son’s remains and bury him in his home country. Members of the Moroccan community have called for the intervention of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nacer Bourita.
Deceased from cancer, the young Ahmed is currently in the morgue and his body risks being cremated if it is not repatriated to Morocco.
The minister’s response should be quick, knowing that in the past several similar cases have received a favorable opinion from the Moroccan authorities.
Last July, the Moroccan Consulate General in Brussels had announced that the remains of Moroccans who died in Brussels and were not buried can be repatriated to their country of origin, provided certain conditions are met.
