Moroccan-Born Athlete Clinches Fifth Spanish Kickboxing Title, Eyes More Success

Mohammed Hamdi, 24 years old and of Moroccan origin, has been the Spanish kickboxing champion for the fifth time in a few weeks. A few months ago, he won the world title in Hungary.
"I am very happy to be Spanish champion again. I set this goal for myself. It is the result of two months of hard work. It is very satisfying to see one’s efforts bear fruit. This is the fifth time I have been Spanish champion and I want more," said Mohammed Hamdi in an interview with Diario de Navarra.
The Moroccan-origin athlete recounts how he developed a taste for contact sports. "One day, some friends started doing kickboxing and I decided to try it too," he confides, adding that he owes his career and victories to his coach, José Vicente Eguzkiza. "He’s the one who taught me almost everything I know...," explains Mohammed Hamdi.
His prospects are to participate in the European Championship in Turkey in November, in the Full Contact category, and to qualify for the Olympics to be held next year.
