Moroccan "Blue City" Chefchaouen Named Top Global Travel Destination for 2022

The city of Chefchaouen is among the 22 best destinations to visit in 2022. This is revealed by a survey conducted by the American travel specialist group Ovation Travel Group.

The survey specifies that only two of the 22 main destinations are located in the United States, the others being geographically distant and much less known to American travelers. In a statement to Forbes, Paul Metselaar, CEO of Ovation Travel Group, indicated that travelers want to cross borders and have new experiences. This is precisely what the list of 22 must-see destinations for 2022 reflects. "We are seeing a huge pent-up demand for international travel, certainly the strongest since 2019," he affirmed.

Chefchaouen is one of the best destinations to visit next year. It owes its reputation to its charm and picturesque side. Nicknamed the blue pearl, Chefchaouen has retained a soul of Andalusian influence. It is the most Hispano-Moorish of Moroccan cities. "With its houses built on the mountainside, its narrow and winding streets and the enchanting blue color that covers the city, Chefchaouen seems to have come straight out of a dream," declares Ashley Diamond, luxury travel advisor for Ovation Travel Group. "This enchanting provincial capital invites you to stroll, discover its rich heritage, admire the architectural treasures that populate its alleys and meet its inhabitants," she adds.

The 21 other best destinations to visit in 2022 are: Taormina (Italy), London (England), Santa Fe (New Mexico), Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Anguilla (British Overseas Territory), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Faroe Islands (North Atlantic, Denmark), Ischia (Italy), Banff (Canada), Galapagos Islands (Ecuador), Majorca (Spain), Porto (Portugal), Bodrum (Turkey), the Seychelles, Napa Valley (California), Quito (Ecuador), San Sebastian (Spain), Yucatan (Mexico), Côte de Granit Rose (France), Namibia, and Paro (Bhutan).
