Moroccan-Belgian Journalist Elected Co-Chair of Green Party in Belgium

The duo composed of the former journalist of Moroccan origin Nadia Naji and Jeremie Vaneeckhout are the new co-chairs of Groen. They won 57% of the vote in the election held on Saturday.
The two new co-chairs came out far ahead in the poll, well ahead of the other challengers. 30-year-old Molenbeek native of Moroccan origin, Nadia Naji was a journalist at the Dutch-speaking Brussels media Bruzz between November 2017 and April 2020.
But she discovers other passions and changes professional trajectory by becoming between January 2021 and April 2022, parliamentary assistant of Arnaud Verstraete, before being appointed advisor to Elke Van den Brandt in April 2022. She is also co-chair of Groen Molenbeek.
As for Jeremie Vaneeckhout, he was parliamentary assistant to Kristof Calvo, alderman of youth, sports and culture of his hometown between 2013 and 2019. Between 2014 and 2019, he was vice-president of Groen.

But by coming out on top with 57% of the vote, they win the election in the first round, ahead of Elisabeth Meuleman and Juan Benjumea Moreno (35%), Jad Amine Zeitouni and Jenna Boeve (6%). The new co-chairs are elected to lead the party until the next elections to be held in 2024.
