Moroccan Bank Glitch Causes Panic as Clients’ Accounts Show Zero Balance

Many clients of Banque Populaire were surprised a few days ago to see their balances at zero on the bank’s mobile application. A technical problem that caused serious concerns among them.
These clients reported having noticed that their accounts were apparently empty after checking their balances on the bank’s application on Saturday. For the majority, it was likely a technical bug. But the lack of immediate communication from the bank fueled users’ concerns. It was only on Sunday morning that the banking institution informed of the "normal and complete" restoration of its digital services Chaabi Net and Pocket Bank, mentioning "technical maintenance work" without providing more details, and simply thanking its clients for their "understanding."
This explanation was deemed insufficient by clients who criticized Banque Populaire’s late communication and lack of transparency. Moreover, this technical bug calls into question the relevance of an accelerated transition to digital banking services without adequate adaptation in terms of infrastructure, IT security, and crisis communication.
