Montpellier Mayor Seeks Moroccan, Algerian Aid to Address Unaccompanied Minor Crisis

Michaël Delafosse, the mayor of Montpellier, announces that he will discuss the situation of unaccompanied minors with the consular authorities of Morocco and Algeria.
The mayor of Montpellier is awaiting explanations from the consular authorities of Morocco and Algeria on the situation of unaccompanied minors, reports Francebleu. Moreover, Michaël Delafosse wishes that these authorities help him "to act against the mafia networks that recover minors so that they go and commit thefts in the cities of France." "If we learned that we, French children and not children of the streets of the world, we would be the first to be outraged," he says.
The mayor has also looked into the case of children fleeing wars and conflicts. "We have cases of child soldiers whose care shows results and it is the honor of France to know how to take care of them," says Mr. Delafosse.
The city council will meet on Thursday, July 30, to vote on measures to ensure the safety of the people of Montpellier.
