Montpellier Airport Sees 91% Traffic Surge, Boosted by Morocco Flights

Traffic at Montpellier-Méditerranée airport increased by 91% in 2022 compared to the pre-Covid-19 level. This is partly due to flights to Morocco.
More specifically, 1,760,000 passengers transited through Montpellier airport last year, according to a statement from the management, stating that this is "an excellent result, higher than the target set at the beginning of the year (1.7 million)."
"The recovery is continuing and allows us to envisage a return to strong growth as provided for in the Ambition 2026 strategic plan". With this performance, it is said, the Montpellier airport "confirms and strengthens" its 10th place in the national ranking of metropolitan regional airports.
These positive results were achieved in part thanks to international destinations. At the top of the top 5, we find London-Gatwick (112,000 passengers), followed by Basel-Mulhouse (60,000), Amsterdam (56,500). Fez (50,000) and Casablanca (44,000) complete the podium.
