Metro Hero Prevents Suicide at Brussels Station, Saves Mother of Two

Mounir B. saved a mother of two children from imminent suicide, on Sunday, February 9, 2020, on the platform of the Jacques Brel station in Anderlecht. Wanting to end her life, this woman asked him to push her as the next train arrived.
"It’s so unexpected. I first thought it was a joke. But no, this lady really wanted to throw herself under the metro; but she didn’t have the courage to do it. So, she asked me to help her," testifies Mounir B. He immediately called 101 so that the operator would alert the emergency services and ask the STIB dispatch to slow down the arrival of the trains, in both directions, reports Dernière Heure.
"We continued to talk, she and I, while I positioned myself to prevent her from jumping. She told me that she has a husband and two children, and has no problems, neither with one nor with the little ones. But she is depressed and it has become too hard for her," Mounir recounts.
She does not give up on suicide, however. "Push me, God will thank you," she told him. "No, God will punish me," the man replies, asking her: "Would your children be happy to learn that they no longer had a mother?". "It’s better to end it," the desperate woman replies.
Meanwhile, several trains, which had slowed down as promised, passed through the station. The woman asked Mounir the reason for his refusal. The man offered her to have a coffee. Two STIB agents, then police officers, arrive on the scene. The latter "very gently, with great gentleness" took charge of the mother.
