Mélenchon Edges Out Macron in French Expat Vote in Morocco

The day after the first round of the French presidential election, we know a little more about the vote of the French residing in Morocco. The candidate of La France Insoumise (FI), Jean-Luc Mélenchon, came out on top with 40.2% of the votes.
Mélenchon thus outpaced the candidate Emmanuel Macron (37.8%) according to the provisional figures collected by SRNT News, specifying that the native of Tangier came out on top in four consular constituencies, namely: Rabat (48.05%), Tangier (54.81%), Fez (52.82%) and Casablanca (41.65%).
For their part, the French of Agadir and Marrakech supported Macron with respectively (34.85%) and 40.3% of the votes.
As for the far-right candidates, they came 3rd and 4th in the vote of the French in Morocco. With 6.7% of the votes, Eric Zemmour occupies the third position, the far-right leader Marine Le Pen, finished in 4th position with 4.5% of the votes, the same source specifies.
In France, according to the latest estimates, the second round of the elections will oppose the outgoing president Emmanuel Macron who collected 27.60% and Marine Le Pen, credited with 23.41% of the votes. The two finalists will face each other on April 24, as in 2017.
