Marhaba 2025: Moroccan Foundation Rescues Stranded Bus Passengers in France

As they were crossing France to reach the port of Algeciras, 42 Moroccans saw their journey interrupted in Fréjus. A bus breakdown required an intervention by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity as part of the Marhaba 2025 operation.
On July 6th, a bus transporting 42 Moroccans residing in Italy broke down in Fréjus, in southern France. The vehicle was providing the connection between Naples and the port of Algeciras, Spain, as part of the Marhaba 2025 system.
Following the incident, the teams of the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, present at the port of Marseille, informed the central coordination office responsible for emergency monitoring. This structure operates within the framework of the Marhaba system, set up to support the return of Moroccans residing abroad during the summer period.
In coordination with the French local authorities and the Moroccan Consulate General in Marseille, passenger assistance was organized. This consisted of providing temporary accommodation, meals, and basic logistical support.
Due to the time required to repair the bus, an emergency plan was activated. A mobile unit from the Foundation went to the site to monitor the situation, inform the passengers, and organize the continuation of the trip.
A second vehicle was chartered to resume the journey to Spain. The passengers received meals and were accompanied until their arrival at the port of Tangier Med. On site, a reception cell was deployed to ensure the final stage of the journey.
An additional shuttle transported the travelers to their destinations in Morocco. The entire intervention was carried out in accordance with the usual procedures provided for by the Marhaba system.
