Man Wrongly Accused in Bayonne Bus Driver Murder Sues Far-Right Party

RN officials have presented the photo of M., a 29-year-old young man, as being one of the "murderers" of bus driver Philippe Monguillot, killed in Bayonne. He claims he did not participate in this tragedy and has filed a complaint against X.
On Twitter, several political figures from the Rassemblement national (RN) including Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella published the photographs of two men, including that of M., a 29-year-old Bayonne resident, after the violent assault that cost the life of Philippe Monguillot, a bus driver in the city of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, on July 5.
"I started seeing photos on a few sites, then Marine Le Pen and people from the Rassemblement national (RN) shared it. I didn’t think it would get so much attention," he tells the newspaper Le Parisien. He confides that his life has been in danger since the publication of his photo. "My head has been put everywhere, I’m not here to get buzz but my life is in danger," he explains. On Monday, he filed a complaint against X for slanderous denunciation and defamation, according to France Bleu.
M. is known to the police. He had spent "a few years" in prison after several convictions for delinquency ("small fights", alcohol consumption, drug trafficking, etc.). According to him, his photo that has been published on social networks for the past few days had been taken by the police in a police station during one of these cases.
Only one question remains unresolved so far: "How did this document manage to get out of a police station?" wonders the young man’s lawyer.
