Man Jailed for Attempted Strangulation of Partner in Yvelines Domestic Violence Case

A 28-year-old man was sentenced to six months in prison, with a committal order, for "domestic violence" by the Versailles Criminal Court. He had tried to strangle his partner with a shower hose in an apartment in the Yvelines.

Within a couple from the commune of Les Mureaux, which formed three months ago, a dispute escalates one evening. According to the description of the President of the Versailles Criminal Court, Ludovic had drunk "1 liter of beer during the day, 25 cl in the evening and, again, a small glass of vodka in the evening", reports actu.fr, not to mention that he had smoked three joints.

The action that called for Ludovic’s reaction is a trivial fact. His partner, a Moroccan woman, would have blocked his number. This act, which he considered an affront, would have angered him.

"I received a slap. Then I spat on her, precisely to avoid hitting her. The rest is rather vague," the young man, who was clearly not in his right mind, had declared from the stand. According to the account, the man then dragged his girlfriend by the hair, before throwing her into a bathtub "to give her a cold shower".

The preliminary police investigations reveal that the shower hose was broken. In addition to the bruises the victim had around one eye, she also had signs of strangulation around the neck.

After deliberation, the court sentenced the violent partner to six months in prison, with a committal order, contrary to the eight-month sentence requested by the prosecutor.
