Major Drug Bust: 1.7 Tons of Moroccan Hashish Seized at Toulouse Toll Booth

Two vehicles coming from Spain and transporting large quantities of Moroccan hashish were intercepted on October 20 at one of the toll booths in Toulouse, on the A-62.
The two vehicles were intercepted one after the other, after an alert from the National Directorate of Intelligence and Customs Investigations (DNRED) and the interior surveillance brigade of Frouzins (Haute-Garonne, Occitanie). The drivers of the two vehicles, aware that they were transporting illicit goods, tried to flee, reports Narco Diario.
One was quickly apprehended and the other managed to escape the agents. An alert plan was activated to find him. The search of the two vehicles led to the discovery of 1,757 kilos of hashish and several sets of license plates. The arrested driver was taken into custody. The two vehicles used by the suspects are declared stolen in Germany and Spain. The investigation opened by the Toulouse prosecutor’s office is ongoing.
In 2022, the French customs seized 66.26 tons of cannabis resin transported in "go-fast" vehicles, trucks or vans. Each year, 60 to 85% of the drugs seized in France come from Morocco after transiting through Spain.
