Major Drug Bust: 188 kg of Moroccan Cannabis Seized on French Highway

188 kg of Moroccan cannabis were seized on Friday on the A2 motorway, at the level of Marly (Nord), coming from Spain.
According to the Anti-Drug Office (OFAST), the Lille judicial police alerted its teams to intercept on the A1 motorway north of Paris, a suspicious utility vehicle registered in Spain. It was heading north towards Europe.
The suspect, quickly cordoned off, was arrested safely with an interesting cargo: the trunk was full of boxes stamped "Fedex", some containing household products, but others revealed an illegal load. In addition to the household products, the police seized 158 kg of cannabis herb and 30 kg of cannabis resin.
Pending his hearing, the defendant, a 43-year-old German driver with a criminal record in his country, was placed in pre-trial detention. He is to be tried in immediate appearance on July 8, after a request for postponement by his lawyers.
