Macron Proposes Arabic Language Education in French Schools to Combat Radicalization

French President Emmanuel Macron, in his speech in Yvelines on Friday, decided to introduce the Arabic language into the school curriculum.
"To teach the Arabic language more in school or in an extracurricular program that we control, because our youth is also rich in this plural culture. The State must also commit and support what must, in our country, allow a better understanding of Islam to emerge," proposed the French head of state in his speech. The objective of this decision is to prevent certain young people, eager to learn this language, from being "manipulated" or falling into the trap "of associations that offer them the worst."
To succeed in this challenge, Emmanuel Macron announced the creation of a scientific institute of Islamology and additional positions in higher education.
He also proposed to make school compulsory from the age of 3. According to him, this is a necessity. "I have made a decision, undoubtedly one of the most radical since the laws of 1882 and those ensuring school co-education between boys and girls in 1969. And the non-contract schools will be subject to increased control."
