Macron Promotes Arabic Education as Tool to Combat Extremism in France

President Emmanuel Macron praised Arabic, the teaching of which in French schools would help fight the "separatism of certain associations that could transmit an ideology contrary to the Republic".
"This is a cultural war that we are waging. The fight against radical Islam is played out in the schools of the Republic, in the public services to refuse communitarian behaviors, on the Internet, a laboratory of hatred, in associations and places of worship," he said in an interview with Brut. For the French head of state, speaking Arabic "is an opportunity for France", as it will help effectively fight separatism.
After the stage of the Council of State, the "bill strengthening secularism and republican principles" will be presented on December 9 in the Council of Ministers. A date that coincides with the date marking the entry into force of the founding law of secularism in France, December 9, 1905. Next February, the text will have to reach the National Assembly and will be examined by the Senate.
