Macron Praises Efforts as France Plans More Citizen Repatriations Amid Travel Bans

The President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, visited the Crisis Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday, April 3, to inquire about the repatriation operations of French citizens stranded abroad due to the suspension of air travel. On this occasion, he announced that new operations will be carried out in the coming days.
Emmanuel Macron praised the efforts of the agents mobilized in the repatriation operations of French people blocked in China, Morocco and other countries since March 16. "What has been done is beautiful. Having brought back 132,000 people and organized delicate medical evacuations is an achievement," he said.
According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian, who accompanied Emmanuel Macron during this visit, Morocco is the country where the most significant repatriation efforts have been noted. In total, 150 planes and seven ships have been chartered to repatriate more than 20,000 people.
"The weeks to come will continue to be difficult, with new operations to be carried out," said the French President. According to the update he received, 4,000 to 5,000 French people are waiting to be repatriated to France, specifies La Dépêche. These nationals are stranded in countries such as Peru, the Philippines, Senegal, etc.
