Lost Phone Leads to Major Drug Trafficking Bust in Nancy, France

The trial of nine members of a drug trafficking network opened on Thursday at the Specialized Interregional Jurisdiction (Jirs) in Nancy. The network, which was supplied from several countries including Morocco, was dismantled after the discovery, by a passer-by, of the mobile phone of one of the suspects.
The passer-by found, on August 8, 2020, a mobile phone in Rixheim, near Mulhouse (Haut-Rhin) and reported it to the authorities. The phone had no unlock code and the agents were able to access its content quickly, discovering photos and videos of wads of banknotes and cannabis resin and herb. They suspect that the owner is a member of a drug trafficking network. In view of these elements, the Mulhouse public prosecutor’s office ordered the opening of an investigation to try to find the mysterious owner, reports Charente Libre.
