US LNG Reaches Morocco via Spain in Reverse Pipeline Flow

Morocco received the first gas deliveries from Spain via the Maghreb-Europe pipeline in the reverse direction on Tuesday. This liquefied natural gas (LNG), transformed in the regasification plants in Spain before being sent to Morocco, comes from the United States.
The first cargo of LNG from the United States destined for Morocco was unloaded at the Bilbao regasification plant before being sent to Morocco on Tuesday via the Maghreb-Europe pipeline in the reverse direction. For weeks, the Moroccan authorities had been looking for an LNG supplier on the international market, which is very saturated due to the fierce competition between Asian and European countries to reduce their dependence on Russia.
The first gas deliveries to Morocco from Spain arrived in the midst of the NATO summit in Madrid, notes La Vanguardia, adding that President Pedro Sanchez took this opportunity to thank President Joe Biden for the good disposition of the United States to sell LNG to Spain in order to reduce its dependence on Algeria.
For its part, Spain has reassured Algeria that not a single molecule of its gas will go to Morocco, after Algeria threatened to turn off the gas tap to it if it supplied the kingdom.
