Lille Mosque Wins Legal Battle Against Landlord in Property Dispute

The Companions of Peace association, which manages the Bois-Blancs mosque in Lille, has just won another legal battle against the landlord Vilogia, supported by the Lille Metropolis (MEL).
June 6 remains a great day for the Bois-Blancs mosque thanks to the Lille administrative court, which has canceled the pre-emption by which the landlord had acquired, in 2019, a premises coveted by the mosque, reports Nord Eclair.
The association thought it could take possession of the land in place of the barely 60 square meter space it currently occupies, but it was overtaken by the landlord Vilogia who had pre-empted at the last minute the space on the initiative of the MEL in order to build social housing.
The method used by the landlord had been denounced by the association, and in order to obtain satisfaction, it turned to the courts. The latter decided in October 2019 to suspend the pre-emption without ruling on the invalidity of the purchase of the land by Vilogia.
The decision prevented the landlord from undertaking new work pending a judgment on the merits. But today, this is done to the great delight of the leaders and faithful of the Omar Ibn Al-Khattab mosque.
