Lamine Yamal could have chosen Morocco
Music producer RedOne recently lifted the veil on the behind-the-scenes of the choice of Lamine Yamal, the young prodigy of FC Barcelona, to represent Spain rather than Morocco.
During a radio show, RedOne confided that the young player was initially "one of theirs", surrounded by his uncle and father, both in favor of him joining the Moroccan national team.
However, the will of Yamal’s mother seems to have weighed heavily in the balance. "His mother wanted him to make another choice, that’s the problem," said RedOne, hinting that she preferred to see her son play under the colors of the Roja.
Another element played a role in Yamal’s final decision: the choice of his agent. While RedOne had offered to collaborate with a close associate, the young player ultimately opted for the famous agent Jorge Mendes, a friend of the producer.
RedOne recounted having met Yamal and invited him to the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, an attention that the young player had saluted on social media. Publications that, according to the Moroccan producer, attracted the attention of FC Barcelona to Yamal’s exceptional talent.
