Kushner Meets UAE Leader in Morocco to Discuss Middle East Peace Plan Funding

Tuesday 6 August 2019, by Bladi.net

An unexpected meeting brought together the advisor and son-in-law of the American president, Jared Kushner, in Morocco on Thursday, August 1, 2019, and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates. This tête-à-tête aimed to finance the Israeli-Palestinian peace plan.

The meeting, initially scheduled in the United Arab Emirates, was ultimately held in Morocco, reports medias24.com. The son-in-law’s delegation was composed of collaborators, namely the U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East, Jason Greenblatt, the country’s Special Representative for Iran, Brian Hook, and his deputy, Avi Berkowitz.

Even if, for the time being, no information has leaked from the meeting with MBZ, to reveal the content of the meetings, this visit was announced to "finalize the economic component of the peace plan and discuss the resources capable of financing the vision of the American administration," the same media noted.

The successive meetings that took place in Morocco cap off a very busy week during which the delegation met six different leaders in five countries (Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Israel, Egypt and Morocco). A few months earlier, Krushner had learned from Morocco and Jordan that the two-state solution was the only acceptable one for this project.

This tour, presented in Bahrain (Manama) on June 25 and 26, 2019, aims to raise over $50 billion in a decade for the Palestinians to improve infrastructure and governance in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
