King Mohammed VI France Visit Historic Treaty Signing

The announcement was made official this Wednesday, May 20, from the Moroccan capital. The foreign affairs ministers of both countries, Nasser Bourita and his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot, confirmed that a visit by the Sovereign to France was currently scheduled. Although the exact date remains confidential, this meeting will be preceded by a joint high commission meeting. It will bring together the French and Moroccan Prime Ministers as early as July in Rabat.

This royal journey will go beyond a simple protocol visit. According to the Moroccan minister, it will be marked by the signing of a bilateral treaty described as a "political and legal event". Present in Morocco as part of a ministerial conference on maintaining peace in the Francophone space, Jean-Noël Barrot emphasized the exceptional nature of this future agreement. It will indeed be the very first treaty of this kind concluded by Paris with a non-European state.
