Jordanian Siblings Assaulted in France After Speaking Arabic on Bus, Prosecutors Investigate

A Jordanian brother and sister, in their "twenties", were assaulted on Thursday evening in Angers. Following their complaint, the Angers prosecutor’s office has decided to initiate an investigation to identify the attackers.
They would have been attacked because they did not speak French. Brother Muhammad Abu Eid and his sister Heba claimed to have been insulted and beaten as they were returning home. The attack would have started with insults on a bus. "The sister does not speak French very well. A discussion is going to start," the Angers prosecutor, Eric Bouillard, reports, citing 20 minutes.
As the two brothers got off the bus and were heading towards a university residence to a friend’s place, "they will be followed and there will be an assault in front of the university residence," the magistrate details. The young man, as well as his sister, were beaten in the face by the attackers who fled.
The attackers are still being sought, the results of video surveillance are still awaited, because, the prosecutor is concerned, "there are things that will have to be taken up again with the victims, like the language gap." "We can find ourselves in a racist attack, not that we doubt it, but it deserves to be verified," he specified.
For the record, the young Muhammad Abu Eid had recounted their assault on Facebook. He had introduced himself as an Arabic language assistant and scholarship holder of the French government.
