Islamophobic Vandalism at French Mosque Prompts Investigation

Islamophobic tags and damage were committed at the beginning of the week on a prayer room in La Mure, Isère. An investigation has been opened.
Anti-Muslim tags and damage were discovered in the night from Monday, December 27 to Tuesday, December 28 on a prayer room in La Mure, Isère, managed by the Association cultuelle du plateau matheysin (ACPM). On Tuesday, the residents of the town center of Château-Gontier, in the south of Mayenne, also discovered half a dozen Islamophobic and pro-Nazi graffiti as well as swastikas.
In a post on Twitter, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin condemned the "odious acts" which are "contrary to the values of the Republic". "Support for Muslims following the degradation of the Muslim prayer room in La Mure, Isère, and the anti-Muslim inscriptions in the streets of Château-Gontier-sur-Mayenne," he added.
An investigation has been opened to elucidate these acts of vandalism.
