Islamophobic Attacks in France Surge 52% in 2020, Human Rights Commission Reports

Violence targeting Muslims increased by 52% in France in 2020, according to the latest report from the National Consultative Commission on Human Rights (CNCDH).
This CNCDH report is based on an observation and a note from the Central Territorial Intelligence Service which establishes "a context favoring the stigmatization of Muslims".
In view of this note, "the CNCDH expresses its very strong concern in the face of drifts, in the political field as well as in certain media and on social networks. It underlines their great harmfulness, calling for the greatest vigilance in this regard".
The commission also criticized on January 28, 2021, the law on separatism. It indicates that of all anti-Muslim acts, 75% correspond to threats (public insults, graffiti, etc.). Attacks on places of worship, for their part, increased by 38% last year.
