Interpol Red Notice Leads to Arrest of Chinese Woman in Morocco for Child Abduction

A 51-year-old Chinese national was arrested on Monday by Moroccan authorities at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca, following an Interpol red notice.
Wanted under an international arrest warrant issued against her by the French authorities, a Chinese citizen was intercepted upon arrival on a flight from Abu Dhabi, according to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
Convicted in absentia by the French justice system, the suspect is accused of having kidnapped her only son without paternal authorization. Her ex-partner accuses her of having taken the child out of French territory without his consent.
Pending the extradition procedure underway by the Moroccan authorities, the Chinese woman was placed in custody for further investigation under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, and the French authorities were informed of the arrest.
In recent months, the Moroccan police have arrested about twenty foreign nationals wanted by Interpol. Most of them had links to international crime organizations. Among the individuals arrested, 15 have been extradited to their country of origin.
