International Legal Team Forms to Defend Moroccan Activist Maati Monjib

An international group of lawyers is in the process of being formed "to support the defense in Morocco, initiate procedures in France and at the international level". This is the announcement made by the Support Committee for the historian and activist, Maâti Monjib.
In a press release issued after the special hearing convened by the investigating judge in Rabat, it was indicated that this international team of lawyers will be coordinated by the law firm of lawyer William Bourbon.
The announcement was made in the presence of the families of Maâti Monjib, Omar Radi and Soulaiman Raïssouni, representatives of the committees in Morocco and Canada, one of the Moroccan lawyers, the French lawyers William Bourbon and Vincent Brengarth, as well as journalists.
Several requests have been made for procedural defects by the Moroccan lawyers, the press release specifies, citing for example the arrest ordered "without a warrant", in violation of the Moroccan Code of Criminal Procedure. It also denounces serious violations of the right to a fair trial.
Alongside this action, Monjib’s defense is awaiting the response of the Rabat court to his request for release. It should come in the next few days.
