International Gang Arrested for $6 Million ATM Heist Spree in Germany

Moroccans are among the nine people arrested in the Netherlands and Belgium after explosions of bank ATMs and the theft of a large sum of money in Germany.
The German authorities announced the arrest of nine people during searches in 16 properties in the Netherlands and Belgium. They are suspected of having participated in the explosion of dozens of ATMs in Germany and the theft of nearly 5.7 million euros. They specify that the suspects are aged 25 to 41 and are Dutch, Moroccan, Afghan, Turkish and Romanian nationals residing in the Netherlands or Belgium. The German justice system is requesting their extradition. Meanwhile, the investigators are still looking for three other alleged accomplices.
In Germany, ATMs have been the target of 52 explosions between November 2021 and January 19, all but one in the two southern states. They occurred mainly at night. The damage is estimated at more than 6.7 million euros, more than the total value of the money.
