Influencer Faces Trial for Controversial Video Mocking Israeli Baby’s Death

Influencer Warda A., at the center of a controversy related to her ironic video on the alleged death of an Israeli baby in an oven during the Hamas attacks in October, was taken into custody for apology of terrorism.
Scheduled to be tried in immediate appearance on Friday, her trial has finally been postponed to November 22. She remains under judicial supervision. In the incriminating video, dated last week, she had commented sarcastically on the situation of the baby, causing reports on the Pharos platform and a preliminary investigation on November 3.
The criminal brigade then took over the case after multiple reports, and Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced that he had referred the matter to the courts, supported by organizations such as the Licra and Avocats sans frontières.
The young woman, who is reportedly of French nationality according to her lawyer, is being prosecuted for "apology of terrorism through an online communication service" and "public incitement to hatred, violence or discrimination." The video was also reported to the National Hate Speech Online Fight Pole (PNLH) of the Paris prosecutor’s office.
